It appears as though the rectangular mirror would also interfere with the vent glass. Although the original templates show the mirror should have been mounted further forward on the door, I discovered a diagram on page 2-4510 Body Assembly Manual showing the rectangular mirror mounted in the exact same position as my round mirror. There has been some discussion on the (incorrect) placement of the car's rear view mirror which caused it to interfere with the vent glass. Next will be exhaust, ball joints, and parking brake service. I am currently awaiting the arm back from the welding shop. However, I soon discovered the main top arm on the passenger side was broken, probably as a result of the PO trying to force the top down manually. I wasn't really sure what I was in for, but after replacing the pump, the top retract relay, and a solenoid valve the top cycled as it should. The top linkage was disconnected at the cylinders when I received the car and the PO had lowered the top manually.
